  • Author: Syrine
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This stunning pastry ring is filled with sweet jelly and topped with luscious frosting. It’s the perfect treat for brunch, holidays, or whenever you want to impress with something fun, beautiful, and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans crescent roll dough (or homemade pastry dough)
  • 1/2 cup jelly (raspberry, strawberry, or your favorite flavor)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon citrus zest (lemon or orange)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon milk or orange juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
  • Toasted almonds or crushed pistachios (optional garnish)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Edible flowers or freeze-dried fruits (optional)

Instructions

  1. If using homemade dough, prepare by mixing flour, butter, sugar, salt, and enough water to form smooth dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Roll out dough into a large rectangle. Spread jelly evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border.
  4. Sprinkle citrus zest over jelly. Roll the dough from the long edge into a tight log and pinch the seam to seal.
  5. Form the log into a ring and pinch the ends together. Place the ring on the baking sheet and cut small slits on top to release steam.
  6. Brush the ring with beaten egg and sprinkle a little sugar if desired for a caramelized finish.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool completely before frosting.
  8. For frosting, mix powdered sugar with milk or juice and vanilla or almond extract. Drizzle over the cooled pastry.
  9. Garnish with nuts, edible flowers, or powdered sugar for presentation.
  10. Slice and serve with coffee, tea, or sparkling wine for a perfect pairing.

Notes

Experiment with different jelly flavors or add a cream cheese layer for extra richness. For a festive touch, use seasonal toppings or color the frosting with natural dyes.
