Description
This easy Garlic Butter Mushrooms Christmas Recipe gives you rich, buttery sautéed mushrooms with lots of garlic and fresh herbs in about 20 minutes. A cozy, festive side dish for your Christmas table.

- 1 1/2 pounds cremini or baby bella mushrooms, cleaned and trimmed
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped, plus more for serving
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (about 1/2 lemon)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons dry white wine or chicken broth
- Optional: 1 to 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Wipe mushrooms clean and trim stems. Leave small ones whole, cut larger ones in half.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter with olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add mushrooms in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes until browned on one side.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir and cook another 5 to 7 minutes until browned all over.
- Optional: Add wine or broth and scrape pan. Simmer 1 to 2 minutes.
- Push mushrooms to edges of pan. Add remaining 1 tablespoon butter, then garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Cook 30 to 60 seconds.
- Stir mushrooms into garlic herb butter.
- Turn off heat and add lemon juice and parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with extra parsley.
Notes
For best browning, dry mushrooms well and avoid crowding the pan. You can prep ahead and reheat gently before serving. Optional add-ins like white wine or Parmesan enhance flavor.
