Ingredients

- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1½ tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Soften the butter at room temperature until pliable but not melted.
- Mince the garlic finely and chop the herbs.
- Zest and juice the lemon.
- In a bowl, combine butter, garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, parsley, chives, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Mix thoroughly with a fork or spatula until well combined.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- For dipping sauce: gently melt over low heat until smooth.
- For compound butter: roll into a log using plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Slice and serve over steak, chicken, seafood, or vegetables.
Notes
Use fresh herbs for best flavor. Store in the fridge up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Melt gently to avoid separation.
