Description
With high heat, light seasoning, and a hot pan, oyster mushrooms turn golden, meaty, and delicious in minutes. Perfect for a simple side or hearty main.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz oyster mushrooms
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- Fresh thyme or parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Gently clean the oyster mushrooms using a damp paper towel. Trim off the tough base and separate large clusters into strips.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it heat until shimmering.
- Add the mushrooms in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan or they will steam instead of brown.
- Cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes until the bottoms turn golden brown.
- Flip the mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add garlic and herbs during the final minute, stirring just until fragrant.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Notes
Use high heat and avoid crowding the pan for the crispiest texture. Add garlic and herbs at the end to avoid burning.
